December 11 2025, 08:15 Donald Trump has lashed out at trans people and the Democrats in another speech completely devoid of facts.
The President was speaking in Pennsylvania on Tuesday (9 December) when he made the disparaging remarks. The event was billed as being about affordability in America, but, not unusually for Trump, it quickly devolved into a diatribe with multiple false claims being made.
Among the falsehoods peddled by the President was that “transgender” is all the Democrat Party could talk about.
“I think transgender, for all, is a great, great thing for the Democrats to be talking about,” he said. “Transgender for every member in your family, if they’re not feeling well that night, let’s just change their sex,” he jibed.

It’s not the first time he’s made such a claim. The Guardian also reports Trump described gender-affirming care as a “mutilation”.
He then went on to insinuate, again falsely, that the Democrats believed in completely open borders.
“I think open borders are great, you know, where prisons are emptied into our country, right? We have people from all over the world being dumped into our country,” he also said.
Additionally, Trump claimed prices were “way down” in the US, and he also said migrants and “people that came into the country illegally” took “100% of all new, net jobs”. Both claims have also been previously debunked.
And while Trump was cheered on in his speech by his supporters at the event, others have approached the speech with a healthy sense of humour, mocking the President’s baseless claims regarding trans people.
“Grandma, I know you don’t feel well. Have you considered being my grandpa?” wrote one person on X/Twitter.
Another typed: “I was a little under the weather last night and my liberal wife made me transgender.”

Since his inauguration earlier this year, Trump has signed executive orders banning transgender people from serving in the military, barring trans women from female sport and restricting gender-affirming healthcare for trans youngsters under the age of 19.
He has also moved to eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion programmes across the government and in the military.
