GLAD Law is proud to announce the establishment of the Tim Stein & Wayne Fette Senior Advisor, a position named in October 2025 in memory of long-time GLAD Law supporters Tim Stein and Wayne Fette.
This position honors their enduring legacy and lifelong commitment to justice and lived equality for LGBTQ+ people and those living with HIV.
It ensures that GLAD Law will continue to have senior leadership dedicated to advancing our mission through strategic legal advocacy, policy development and community engagement.
Having lost Wayne – the love of his life – in 2015, Tim left a transformational planned gift to GLAD Law upon his death in 2022; and his bequest is already making a difference. The inaugural holder of the Tim Stein & Wayne Fette Senior Advisor position, Gary Buseck, has been involved with GLAD Law in various capacities for more than 40 years. Gary served as both Executive Director and Legal Director during some of the most critical years in GLAD Law’s successful fight for marriage equality in New England and nationwide, including challenging the Defense of Marriage Act. Since the end of 2020, he’s served in the critical Senior Advisor position.
“Having had the honor of knowing Tim and Wayne as good friends and seeing firsthand their commitment to GLAD Law’s work and to expanding equality and civil rights, holding this position in their names is especially meaningful to me,” Gary shared.
As part of this role, Gary’s work includes:
- Providing key strategic advice to the legal team and the organization on potential and ongoing matters;
- Mentoring newer attorneys;
- Monitoring developments in the Supreme Court; and
- Engaging in legal research and writing on significant GLAD Law endeavors.
