Transphobic MAGA rapper Nicki Minaj’s social media posts on X were amplified on the social platform X by an army of over 18,784 fake or bot accounts that praised and shared them, Politico recently reported.

“Supportive comments generated by fake profiles were predominantly brief, repetitive, and low in semantic complexity, consisting largely of praising keywords and positive hashtags rather than original or substantive engagement,” said an analysis of her activity on X, compiled by the disinformation detection company Cyabra.

In general, Cyabra found a “sustained and coordinated” amplification of Minaj’s political and cultural posts from November 11 to December 28, something which is rare for a musical artist on social media. Last December 26, fake profiles made up 56% of all comments on political posts made by Minaj, the company found.

The bots also helped amplify Minaj’s attacks on California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) perceived alignment with the transgender community.

Cyabra found that the bots help amplify her posts even more when they contain “toxic” personal attacks or slurs. Many of the bots also amplified messages from the anti-LGBTQ+ young conservatives group Turning Point USA.

Furthermore, the company’s analysis found that the X accounts of Dom Lucre and Matt Wallace — two popular conservative influencers — parroted Minaj’s talking points, suggesting strategic coordination behind the scenes.

Representatives for Minaj and Turning Point USA did not respond to Politico‘s requests for comment.

Minaj has increasingly supported Trump, including his actions against transgender athletes, calling herself his “number one fan.” She made a surprise appearance at the anti-LGBTQ+ group Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest 2025, where she expressed anti-transgender political views.

Minaj’s critics have theorized that she has embraced Trump for “papers,” perhaps a reference to immigration paperwork, since she is an undocumented immigrant who came to the U.S. from Trinidad and Tobago at the age of five. Minaj’s husband is a registered sex offender.
