Ann Coulter said something so dumb about Trump that everyone is making fun of her

Far-right commentator Ann Coulter is getting brutally mocked online for a particularly ignorant statement she made about Donald Trump, who she voted for in 2024.

“That beautiful ending to Trump’s SOTU [State of the Union] address reminds me why we can’t have a second-, third-, or fourth- generation immigrant as president,” she wrote on X. “Love for our country has to be in your genes.”

Ann Coulter’s canceled Berkeley appearance was never about ‘free speech’

The idea that having a lineage of predecessors who were born in the U.S. makes a person more noble is unvarnished nativism, but it takes on another dimension when she’s referring to the son of an immigrant with no grandparents born in the U.S., who also had several of his children with women who were immigrants as well.

“President Trump is a second generation immigrant through his Scottish-born mother and a third generation immigrant through his German-born paternal grandparents,” a context note on X reads, linking to Trump’s Wikipedia page.

Commenters were less polite in their criticisms. Some people suggested that what Coulter really meant to say was that Trump is white and that the immigration status of his parents and grandparents is unimportant because white immigrants, to Coulter, are different from non-white immigrants.

So by your logic Trump shouldn’t be president

— Jason D (@RabbitohCards) February 25, 2026

He doesn’t have a single American born grandparent. His children have one American born grandparent. Not a single member of his family has served in the military.

So, based on your own assessment, when will you call for the immediate resignation of second-generation immigrant Donald Trump?

— Braden Pace (@bradenpace) February 25, 2026

So fifth generation on? Most of them are liberals in Vermont or Washington state.

Don't mind the community note everyone, Coulter meant white people, she's just lost the nerve to say it

Ann, we know you're mind numbingly stupid but why do you have to prove it over and over and over again?

Remind me–what generation of American was George Washington? How about Thomas Jefferson?

Love of country comes from life experiences–not genetics.

The fact that Trump is our worst president comes from Trump living the life of a spoiled toddler who was never told "no". It…
