Trump rages at James Talarico for having “six Genders” & being “vegan” even though he isn’t

Donald Trump posted a barely coherent screed about Texas state Rep. James Talarico (D) on Sunday, several weeks after Talarico won the Democratic primary to run for U.S. Senate. In the rant, Trump accused Talarico of being a “FRAUD” and a vegan (even though he’s not) and having “six Genders.”

“The Democrat running in Texas, James Talarico, turns out to be a FRAUD!” Trump wrote. “It showed after the Election when he beat Low IQ Candidate Jasmine Crockett (No relation to Davy Crockett!).” Trump often refers to women of color as “low IQ.”

The midterm primaries are turning out to be really bad news for incumbents

“He’s got six Genders, insults to Jesus, only vegan food, was wearing a mask in 2023 and 2024, and is a weak, ineffective guy who we ‘allowed’ to win prior to releasing the avalanche of information we had on him because, as bad as Crockett was as a Candidate, this guy is worse!”

Talarico is not a vegan, but he said in 2022 that his state house campaign was “only buying vegan products from our local vegan businesses” while speaking to the Texas Humane Legislation Network, which fueled right-wing speculation that he is vegan, something that might be a hard sell to Texas voters.

“I deny all accusations of veganism,” Talarico said in a statement.

The “six genders” comment likely refers to comments he made in opposition to a trans sports ban in 2021, where he asked the bill’s author how her legislation would affect intersex people, since not everyone’s body fits neatly into male or female categories. He said that “there are many more than two biological sexes — in fact, there are six,” and explained that there are six possible variations of the sex chromosomes. (There are actually more than six.)

Talarico is a devout Christian who speaks often about his faith on the campaign trail, which is likely the reason behind Trump‘s claim that Talarico insults Jesus. Trump called Talarico an “insult to Jesus” last week because he’s “beyond woke” while being Christian.

Conservatives are attempting to paint Talarico as far to the left of Texas voters, and they are using his support for trans equality to do so. Shortly after he won his primary race earlier this month, Republicans started sharing a clip of him giving a speech in support of trans kids during which he said that God is nonbinary, referring to how God is everything, which would include both the masculine and the feminine, according to Talarico.

Republicans have not yet chosen a candidate in the race, and Trump has not endorsed either primary candidate. Neither incumbent Sen. John Cornyn nor state Attorney General Ken Paxton received more than 50% of the vote and will face a runoff in May.
