Conservatives freak out at the idea that women may “undermine” their conservative husbands’ votes
November 02 2024, 08:15

Conservatives across the web have been freaking out over a Julia Roberts ad that encourages women to vote for their own beliefs and not how their husbands say.

This week, Julia Roberts released a political ad depicting two women going to vote and defying pressure from their husbands to vote for Trump, instead choosing to vote for Harris-Walz. The ad is intended for women trapped in abusive relationships who feel forced to vote one way.

This has since dominated the online discourse, revealing that many men are trying to force their wives to vote Trump-Vance.

Fox News host Greg Gutfield held a panel with colleagues where they tried to make fun of the ad, belittling the idea that there are women trapped in relationships where husbands may try to force them to vote one way.

“They have no respect for men in this country at all. You wonder why we would even want to vote for you, the idea that a man can look at a woman in a voting booth and say ‘go ahead, honey,’ and still have his balls when he leaves is amazing to me,” said Tyrus Murdoch on the show.

But one conservative activist apparently wasn’t going to parrot the idea that it’s absurd to think that any men are forcing their wives to vote a certain way and admitted to making his wife vote by mail-in ballot so that he can “make sure she votes for Trump.”

“She’s not gonna vote behind my back.”

Fox News’ Jesse Waters said that he would divorce his wife if he found out she voted for Harris, saying it would be akin to cheating.

“And if I found out [my wife, Emma] was going into the voting booth and pulling the lever for Harris, that’s the same thing as having an affair. That violates this sanctity of our marriage. What else is she keeping from me? What else has she been lying about? Why would she do that and then vote Harris?”

“Why would she say she was voting Trump, and then voting Harris, and I caught her and she said ‘I lied to you for the last four years.’ It’s over, Emma! That would be D-Day.”

Watters’ first wife and the mother of Watters’ children filed for divorce in 2018 after she found out he was having an affair with Fox producer Emma DiGiovine. DiGiovine is now Watters’ wife, the same woman he said he wouldn’t be able to trust if he found out she voted for Harris.

Charlie Kirk, founder of the anti-LGBTQ+ organization Turning Point USA, lambasted the Roberts ad, but then proved its point when he said that the wives of conservative men “undermine their husbands” if they vote for Harris.

“I found that entire advertising campaign so repulsive, it is so disastrous, it’s just like the embodiment of the downfall of the American family. I think it’s so gross, I think it’s so just um nauseating.”

While he wasn’t responding directly to the Roberts ad, Project 2025 Senior Advisor and former Trump official John McEntee said in a video that only men should be allowed to vote, highlighting the lack of respect for women that many on the right have.

McEntee is known for bragging about giving fake money to homeless people so that way they get arrested.
