Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) took her anti-trans crusade to a committee hearing on Wednesday, badgering former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) with accusations he “hates our country” and wants “women and girls to undress in front of men in the locker room.”
Mace was rude out of the gate at the Republican-led House Oversight Committee hearing on the federal workforce, sarcastically congratulating O’Malley on being a candidate for chair of the Democratic National Committee.

“I’m a grown woman!” Mace shouted as she demanded Rep. Jasmine Crockett fight her.
“I think you are the perfect candidate for chair of the Democrat Party. Your liberal record is truly astonishing,” Mace began.

“Thank you,” O’Malley replied.
Mace then launched into a five-minute litany of accusations in the form of questions she never allowed O’Malley to answer in full. She scorned the one-time Democratic candidate for president for taking from her speaking time when he did try to respond.
The South Carolina representative began with a long list of what she considered O’Malley’s failings as a public official, from allowing “gender-confused — actually perverted — men to use women’s restrooms and locker rooms” to supporting mass amnesty for undocumented workers. “You love some law-breaking illegal aliens,” Mace sneered.
“My favorite part of your love for criminals in this country is you don’t refer to them as illegal aliens, but instead you refer to them as ‘new Americans.’ You must really hate American citizens. You must really hate our country.”
“You’re perfectly in line with the Democrat party today,” Mace said, “and emblematic of why Democrats just can’t stop losing elections. You are emblematic of why the Democrat Party has no dignity and no respect for women. You are emblematic of why Democrats don’t put Americans first.”
Her first “question” to O’Malley returned to her pet project of denigrating trans people.
“Define what a woman is for me today. Can you define what a woman is?”
“Oh, yes,” O’Malley replied.
“What is a woman?”
“You’re going to ask me to define what a woman is?”
“Yes, I am. Right now. You just said you could explain it to me.”
“I’m talking to woman right now, a distinguished woman,” O’Malley patiently answered.
“What is a woman? What is a woman?” Mace continued.
“I think you’re kind of denigrating the purpose of this hearing,” O’Malley answered.
“What is it? You can’t define what a woman is. All right, in an effort to be unbiased, an effort to be fair and unbiased, can you define what a man is?”
It was all downhill from there.
Mace spent the next three minutes of her time harassing the mostly unflappable witness with so-called questions about “rape fantasy,” “coddling criminal illegal aliens,” “a war on real biological women,” “forcing women and girls to undress in front of men in the locker room,” “taking away women’s achievements in sports,” and “getting one half of 1% at the Iowa caucus,” in reference to O’Malley’s failed presidential bid in 2016.
She was hardly the “gentlelady” committee chair James Comer (R-KY) called her.
When her time had expired, Mace hilariously claimed O’Malley “took my time, Mr. Chairman!”
Comer granted Mace 15 more seconds — and O’Malley a chance to get one zinger into his testimony.
As Mace paused for a moment to check her notes, O’Malley leaned into his mic and advised, “Think hard.”
