Nearly 200 anti-LGBTQ+ Christian leaders have been accused of child abuse this year alone

A new report has been released that details nearly 200 child abuse accusations against anti-LGBTQ+ conservatives since the beginning of 2025.

Journalist Evan Hurst, who maintains the list, revealed in an update last week that he had been tracking at least 188 separate cases against prominent US-based conservatives.

50 new accusations, convictions, or arrests were added to the list when it was last updated on 31 October, Hurst previously updated the list in August.

“As of that day, I had tracked 138 separate stories in 2025 alone involving Christian pastors/ youth group leaders/priests/ Christian school teachers, etc. Who had been accused/caught/arrested for/convicted of abusing kids in some way,” he said. “Now it is October 31. That list has grown to… 188!”

The list update comes as right-wingers continue to claim, with no evidence, that LGBTQ+ people are an inherent threat to children.

The ‘groomer’ slur and conspiracy theory, which falsely equates LGBTQ+ people with paedophilia, has proliferated in conservative spaces over the past few years, particularly online where its usage is rarely moderated.

Comparatively, Hurst noted that similar accusations against drag queens and trans people, who Republicans typically use the “groomer” slur against, are virtually non-existent.

“You can take sabbaticals to Europe as often as you f**kin’ want, because those stories just don’t happen much, despite the lies vile MAGA Christians tell,” he said, in typically outspoken fashion.

Anti-LGBTQ+ Christian youth pastor arrested days after list is updated

Just days after Hurst shared the updates, Californian Christian youth pastor Joshua David Kemper, who has previously shared anti-LGBTQ+ content on Facebook, was arrested on charges of child sexual abuse.

Kemper, 47, was taken into custody following a months-long investigation into accusations that he sexually abused a 15-year-old girl between March and July.

During that time period, Kemper shared an AI-generated post on his Facebook account suggesting LGBTQ+ people were a danger to youngsters.

Hurst also celebrated efforts by the Trump administration to brand so-called ‘trans ideology’ a form of domestic terrorism following the death of Charlie Kirk.

In September, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said it was “worth looking into” false claims that there has been a rise in violence by so-called ‘trans extremists.’

Days prior, the Heritage Foundation, a right-wing think tank behind the infamous Project 2025 initiative, called on the FBI to add what is described as “Transgender Ideology-Inspired Violence Extremism” to its list of extremist groups.

“They’re declaring everything they don’t like to be terrorism,” Hurst wrote. “People protesting authoritarianism, fascism, and Nazi f**kery? Terrorism. People standing up for the rule of law, or demanding that Trump and his band of f**kwit criminals be helt accountable for their actions? Terrorism.

“Standing up for our immigrant friends and neighbours and trying to protect them from Trump’s Gestapo? You get the idea.”
