November 13 2025, 08:15 Trans+ History Week has officially confirmed its 2026 dates, and it’s set to fall on one of the most important anniversaries in the community’s history.
Organisers of the seven-day annual event, which celebrates the long-overlooked history of gender-diverse people, including trans, non-binary, and intersex people, announced that next year’s festivities will take place from 4-10 May.
Marty Davies, founder of Trans+ History Week CIC, said 2026’s celebrations would focus on the “resistance and repression” of the community during times of growing oppression.
As such, Trans+ History Day, which takes place during the holiday, is set to fall on 6 May – which also marks the 92nd anniversary of the Nazi’s raid on the world’s first trans+ clinic in Berlin.

German fascists stormed the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft (Institute for Sexual Science) in 1933, destroying tens of thousands of vital research, books, and papers in what became the first Nazi book burning.
The announcement comes amid reports that a whopping 84 per cent of trans adults feel unsafe in Britain, according to a YouGov poll commissioned by Good Law Project.
The legal campaign group said the insecurity is “rooted” in the threat of physical harm, with almost one in four trans adults saying they have faced physical violence due to their gender identity.
YouGov’s poll also found that 91 per cent of trans adults distrust the Labour Party in the wake of high-profile U-turns on trans rights by prime minister Keir Starmer and the health secretary Wes Streeting‘s decision to uphold and extend the Conservative government’s puberty blocker ban.
Davies urged the community not to let “toxic culture wars overshadow our actual culture,” which they noted is as old as culture itself.
“Our history is momentous and millenia-old, underling the indisputable fact that we’ve always been here and always will be, overcoming resistance and repression time and time again.”
Trans+ History Week scheme to platform trans creatives
Ahead of the event, Trans+ History Week organisers plan to commission 20 trans+ creatives, in a partnership with QueerAF, who will author, illustrate, and produce original content for the week.
QueerAF CIC’s founder Jamie Wareham said he is already impressed with what has been produced in previous years, saying it is a “testament to their power.”
“They’ve become not only a source to shut down lies about trans+ people, but a source of hope and well-being,” he said. “The community is devastated and worried about the way the judiciary, parliament, and media are vilifying them – but they’re finding hope, and lessons for the fight ahead by learning from trans+ history.”

The creative scheme, organisers say, aims to provide opportunities for trans people in media and creative industries, with Wareham saying it speaks to “the power of trusting people with lived experience to shape stories and having them in the newsroom.”
Publicis Groupe UK DEI director, Kate Williams, celebrated the move as a “powerful step” in supporting LGBTQ+ talent.
“By amplifying their voices, we not only foster cognitive diversity and equity of opportunity, but also counter misinformation, driving a more inclusive and informed industry,” she said. “At a time when standing our ground with marginalised communities is more important than ever, this partnership reaffirms our commitment to equity, representation, and driving meaningful change.”
Creatives looking to join Trans+ History Week and QueerAF in creating content for the annual holiday can apply here. Applications must be submitted before 2 December 2025 at 11:59pm GMT.
