Viswanag “Vish” Burra, who served as a board advisor for the New York Young Republicans (NYYR) and a show producer for Trump’s former Attorney General nominee Matt Gaetz, has resigned from both positions after posting an antisemitic cartoon depicting Jews as “scheming” cockroaches, Joe.My.God. reported.

On Monday, the right-wing media outlet One America News fired Burra from his role as producer on The Matt Gaetz Show. Gaetz said Burra realized the video he posted was “dumb and quickly deleted it,” with Gaetz adding, “[It’s] not something I believe or condone.” Burra’s name also disappeared from the NYYR’s list of board of advisors online after posting the video, one online watchdog noted.

The country’s dramatic rise in antisemitism is a stark warning for where we could be headed

Burra is a former NYYR vice president; the group received national disgrace after several of its leaders were recently revealed to have participated in a racist and antisemitic group chat. Republicans nationwide are just now publicly acknowledging the mainstreaming of antisemitic beliefs amongst their leaders.

Burra also served as a former producer for the podcast of former Trump White House advisor Steve Bannon. Burra was also a top staffer for gay convicted pathological liar, former Rep. George Santos (R-NY), during which time he posted social media messages seeming to threaten a female journalist covering Santos’ criminal dealings.
