January 08 2026, 08:15

At their 24th annual Pride & Passion event, “Love & Liberty,” Greater Boston PFLAG will honor Giselle Byrd with their Cornerstone of Equality Award. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, at Royale, 279 Tremont St., in Boston. Tickets will go on sale February 14 (go to gbpflag.org for tickets and more). Emceeing the event will be the sensational Nancy Nogood.

Says GB PFLAG:

Cornerstone of Equality Awardee Giselle Byrd (she/her) is the executive director of Boston’s The Theater Offensive and the first Black trans woman to lead a regional theatre company in the United States. She champions the work of queer and transgender artists of color and LGBTQIA2S+ youth and allies. Appointed to the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women, Byrd advances equity for all women and girls. In 2024, she received the City of Boston’s inaugural Trans Art & Culture Trendsetter Award.

Emcee Nancy Nogood (she/her) is a drag artist/playwright called “GLAMOROUS!” by the New York Times. In 2020, Nancy was commissioned by Michigan Stage to write her drag play for youth, “Looking Back Through Stained Glass,” a semi-autobiographical journey of finding community and acceptance in the face of adversity. When not in a wig, Nancy goes by Philip and works on the education team of PFLAG NYC, combining a passion for helping LGBTQ+ folks and a love of working with young people.
