In the wake of the murder of queer woman Nicole Renee Good at the hands of an ICE agent, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) warned that ICE has now become an “anti-civilian, paramilitary organization,” rather than only an anti-immigrant one.

Bystander video footage shows an ICE officer firing three shots at Good on Wednesday morning as she tried to drive her car away from agents, who were telling her to “get out of the f**king car” so they could apprehend her.

“People are getting taken off the streets for exercising their free speech rights,” Ocasio-Cortez told the press. “The president, himself, has asserted that in fact one of the reasons that this murder may have been ‘justified’ is on free speech grounds. So this is now turned into what our greatest fear is and has been for a long time around ICE, that this will be used as an anti-civilian force that has no accountability.”

In response to the killing, Trump posted on Truth Social, accusing Good of being “very disorderly, obstructing and resisting,” even though she was driving away.

“The situation is being studied, in its entirety, but the reason these incidents are happening is because the Radical Left is threatening, assaulting, and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents on a daily basis,” Trump wrote. “They are just trying to do the job of MAKING AMERICA SAFE. We need to stand by and protect our Law Enforcement Officers from this Radical Left Movement of Violence and Hate!”

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has claimed that the officer “fired defensive shots” at Good after she was “attempting to run over” him and other agents “in an attempt to kill them — an act of domestic terrorism.” 

Ocasio-Cortez slammed the Trump administration for lying about the circumstances surrounding the incident and spreading propaganda.

“Their editorializing of this event to justify a public murder is disgusting. It is horrifying. Watch it for yourself, and make that assessment to yourself on which of these leaders are lying to you with their statements.”

Ocasio-Cortez said there’s no doubt that the shooting was murder. “And murders in cold blood need to be prosecuted,” she said.

“What we saw today was a criminal – a criminal – murder a woman and shoot her in the head while she was trying to escape and flee for her life. What we saw today was a manifestation of every American’s worst nightmare, which is their government turning into a tyranny.”

Ocasio-Cortez is far from the only one enraged at the story the Trump administration is peddling. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has called the DHS’ claim “bulls**t,” calling the agent’s actions “reckless” and telling ICE to “get the f**k out of Minneapolis.”

An analysis of four different videos of the incident led the publication 404 Media to conclude that DHS is lying.

“The Honda was already turning to the right away from the officers when the one who allegedly feared for his life fired the shots. There were no other officers up the road where the car did fully level out, meaning no other fellow officers were at risk,” the publication wrote, adding that the DHS has previously published “misleading, wrong, or incendiary” statements that do “not reflect reality” and that have been called “not credible” by at least one federal judge.
