President Donald Trump swore, threatened to commit war crimes in Iran, and wrote “Praise be to Allah” (invoking the Arabic term for God in Islam) in an unhinged Easter morning post published on his social media network, Truth Social.

“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F**kin’ Strait, you crazy bast**ds, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP,” he wrote.

Trump’s comments show his increasing desperation to reopen the Strait of Hormuz — a crucial waterway for transporting petroleum and other products affecting the world economy — now 36 days into the illegal war he and Israel started in Iran. Iran has used mines and drones to attack ships passing through the strait, gradually increasing oil and food prices worldwide and sinking Trump’s approval ratings in the United States.

Threatening to intentionally attack civilian infrastructure is considered a war crime under international humanitarian law, including the Geneva Conventions.

Numerous web commenters noted that if other politicians, like former President Barack Obama or New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, wrote a similar message praising the Islamic God on a major Christian holiday, religious right-wing conservatives would likely be in an uproar.
