Virginia voted in favor of a mid-decade redistricting plan yesterday that is expected to send four more Democrats to Congress after the midterms this year, and anti-LGBTQ+ former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is putting the blame on one person: Donald Trump.

“Trump betraying the America First wing of MAGA is going to have devastating consequences in the midterms,” she posted to social media. “I’ve been warning of this all along.”

At issue is the referendum held yesterday in Virginia to change the state’s congressional map after Trump convinced the state of Texas to further gerrymander its congressional map last year to send more Republicans to Congress. California, a blue state, and Virginia, a purple state with a Democratic governor, both retaliated by changing their congressional maps to send more Democrats to Congress.

In yesterday’s vote, 51.4% of Virginia voters said yes to the new congressional map, while 48.6% opposed it, according ot NBC News. Currently, Virginia’s congressional delegation is made up of six Democrats and five Republicans, but the new map is expected to change that to 10 Democrats and one Republican.

“A once red state is turning into one of the bluest states because people don’t want to support Republicans now,” Greene raged. She noted that Trump ran on a platform in 2024 of “no more foreign wars” but then “started war in Iran,” and that he promised “lowering inflation and cost of living” but in reality “his war is increasing inflation and gas and diesel and it’s just starting.” She also brought up the Epstein files, saying that Trump “fought it and called it a hoax.”

These “are some of the top issues that has caused a revolt on the right and a mass exodus of America First Trump voters.”

“But it’s not just Trump, it’s the Republicans in the House and Senate too,” she continued. “They love the donations and the parties and praise they get from the big donors and lobbyists representing the big corporations. There wont be accountability. They will not drain the swamp. And Trump is not your retribution.” [sic]
