Gay Trump toady Ric Grenell says Kennedy Center staffers should be jailed

Fired Kennedy Center president Ric Grenell was welcomed at the aging and ill-attended CPAC conference in Texas last weekend, where he said in an on-stage interview that the Kennedy Center was falling apart when he inherited his job heading it up last year, and that those responsible should be sent to jail.

The Kennedy Center was a “financial and structural mess” until President Donald Trump came along, the Daily Beast reports Grenell as claiming, ever loyal to the White House, despite the fact that Trump fired him from the center just weeks ago.

“When you look at what they said that they were going to do, which was to fix the Kennedy Center, they were getting federal dollars to maintain the building,” Grenell said of the previous administration. “They were not maintaining the building. After 10 years of all of that, the place was literally falling apart.”

“I actually think people should go to prison for the deferred maintenance on the Kennedy Center,” Grenell added.

What the failed Trump official didn’t mention was that four of those 10 years were during Trump’s first administration. Apparently, Grenell might agree with the large part of the American public who believe the president really does belong in prison.

Speaking of the center, Grenell said, “The sewer system would back up, pipes would burst.”

“I arrived, and we didn’t even have the fountains out front that were able to work, because they were going down into the parking garage and flooding the parking garage,” Grenell went on. “Lawsuits from the ceiling falling on cars. Every time there was rain, it poured in through the roof.”

And nearly half of this decade of deferred maintenance was on Trump’s watch, though he didn’t mention it.

Since Grenell’s firing, Trump has elevated a much younger and better-looking Kennedy Center staffer, who —ironically enough — is a Biden-era holdover: facilities chief Matt Floca will take over the arts institution’s planned two-year renovation.

“He’s a pro at construction,” Trump blurted at a recent Kennedy Center board meeting at the White House. He added with a grin that Floca would also be fired if he didn’t realize Trump’s plans perfectly.

While the crowd laughed, Grenell wasn’t there to join in.
