A social media influencer documenting her experience coming out as gay later in life has posted a love letter to gay moms in which she gushes over how lucky their children are to be raised by folks who refuse to be anything but themselves.
“You are modeling to them what it looks like to choose a life that is actually true, not just one that looks good or keeps everyone comfortable,” Briana Smith said in a video to her followers. “They’re learning that love doesn’t have to fit a mold and that you don’t have to abandon yourself to be accepted.”

“They see what courage looks like firsthand in their home because you are showing it to them,” she continued, “because you are not following societal norms, and because you chose a life that is aligned and authentic for you. And so they will feel safe to do the same thing in their own lives. That is the best gift you could ever give your child.”
The mom of four also praised kids who have the opportunity “to see gay love up close in their life.”

“That is so f**king cool,” she said. “So many kids don’t get to have that experience and they do, your kids do.”
“I’m just proud of you… and I love you,” she concluded. “It’s a beautiful life, and you’re doing a great job, and you’re a wonderful mom.”
Smith posts videos not only documenting her own journey of coming out later in life but also offering advice to others with similar experiences.
