Beloved children’s singer melts hearts with message for trans kids: “You are a beautiful light”

Beloved children’s performer Laurie Berkner posted a video for the Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) to tell trans kids they are “a beautiful light in this world.”

“I see you, and it makes me so happy to see you,” Berkner said. “There is such a disconnect between what we say America is about and what it is right now. True freedom is the freedom to be who we are, and it hurts my heart so much that in some parts of this country, it is unsafe for trans people to do that right now. I see you. I love you, and I think you’re beautiful, and this is just a reminder.”

She then sang a few lines from her song “Beautiful Light,” telling trans kids, “You are a beautiful light in this world. You are a beautiful light in this world. You are beautiful light, and you shine so brightly, a beautiful light in this world.”

“Yes, you are,” she reaffirmed. “Take care of yourself, and let’s all take care of each other. Happy Trans Day of Visibility.” In the caption, she also provided resources for trans kids and their families.
