Drag Race star Marina Summers will be the first trans person to host the Miss Universe Philippines competition.

“So honored to be [making] herstory again,” the Drag Race Philippines, Drag Race UK vs the World, and RuPaul’s Drag Race Live! alumna posted to Instagram. “From being the first drag queen to perform on the Miss Universe stage, to becoming the first trans woman to host the pageant.”

In 2024, Summers became the first drag queen to ever appear on a Miss Universe Philippines stage when she performed her single “AMAFILIPINA” in 2024. Earlier this year, in February, she came out as trans.

She will be joined on stage by Miss Universe Philippines 2025 Ahtisa Manalo and the pop group BGYO.

Summers was the runner-up on the first season of Drag Race Philippines and a finalist on the second season of UK vs. the World.

In February, she announced on Instagram that she is transgender. “to all the people i love, i’d like to welcome you in – in this journey,” she wrote, adding a trans Pride flag.

“Since I was a child, I’ve always felt feminine – even deep into the parts that I didn’t always know how to name,” she wrote. “But last year, I finally gave myself permission to stop pausing. And start my transition.”

She added that she would be using what was previously her drag name – “Marina” – as her full-time name.

“There’s still so much to learn,” she continued. “I don’t have everything figured out. But I do know I want to be more honest with you and myself.”
