Donald Trump’s niece calls him out for picking an “anti-woman” running mate in JD Vance
July 20 2024, 08:15

“Donald was never going to pick a woman to be his running mate. He has far too much contempt for us,” says Donald Trump’s niece, Mary Trump, in a new Substack post denouncing her uncle for picking Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) as his running mate.

Trump was particularly outspoken about her uncle and his new running mate’s political stances on women.

“I stand up for my grandchild and all LGBTQ+ people,” the Democrat responded proudly.

“If the Trump/Vance ticket wins this election, it will be the beginning of the end of women’s reproductive rights and bodily autonomy,” Trump, who is an out lesbian and a clinical psychologist, warned. She pointed to Vance’s stance on abortion.

Vance’s website has a section called “End Abortion.” She pointed out that Vance does not believe there should be exceptions for rape and incest and that he argued that “Two wrongs don’t make a right.” She also noted that Vance called women who terminate a pregnancy “sociopathic” because they “murder their own children.”

“We know he thinks women in abusive marriages should stay with their abusers for ‘the sake of the children,'” Mary Trump wrote, referring to comments Vance made in 2021 where he said that women should remain in “violent” relationships.

“American women will know misery if by some great tragedy Donald and Vance get into the White House because those two will make The Handmaid’s Tale our reality,” she wrote.

On X, Mary Trump said, “JD Vance is a danger to American women.”

This is not the first time Mary Trump has spoken out against her uncle. She has publically accused him and the rest of their family of being homophobic, racist, and antisemitic. She is estranged from the rest of the Trumps and has even considered changing her name because she does not want to be associated with them.

“The damage Donald has done to this country is incalculable,” she said in a wide-ranging interview with the Telegraph. “We’re just waiting to find out how much is irreparable.”

She has also opened up about how she feels former President Trump’s upbringing has shaped him.

“With COVID, for example, he would only have had to show some empathy, and wear a mask. That’s it,” she said in an interview in 2021.

“As I was writing [my book] I realized that I felt enormous amounts of compassion for those children,” she said, referring to the family patriarch Fred Trump’s children, including Donald and Mary’s late father, Fred Jr. “They had a horrible childhood and suffered enormously. But do I feel compassion for my uncle now? No.”

In the Substack post, Trump condemns corporate media for focusing on Biden’s age rather than the threat her uncle and Vance poses to human rights and democracy in the United States, “while the press might want to gloss over or downplay Vance’s backwards views on women, I can promise you that American women do not.”

“These are scary times, but it’s good to know where everyone stands,” Mary Trump concluded. “I stand with the women of America. So do Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.”

“We know where Donald and Vance stand. And we need to make sure neither of them gets anywhere near the Oval Office.”
