MassEquality sends message of community support, congratulates winning LGBTQ candidates
November 08 2024, 08:15

The Bay-Statewide grassroots advocacy organization MassEquality yesterday sent a message of support to the Massachusetts LGBTQ+ community from its executive director, Tanya Neslusan, on the heels of the 2024 General Election:

Today, we find ourselves in the wake of a difficult and disheartening moment. We understand the deep concern many of you are feeling right now.

MassEquality has always been a beacon of hope and advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community in Massachusetts, and we will continue to fight for every individual, no matter their gender, sexual orientation, or identity. We will not be silent in the face of hate, discrimination, or injustice. Our values—love, acceptance, and respect—remain unwavering, and they will guide us as we work to safeguard the hard-won rights of our community.

This election result does not erase the progress we’ve made, nor does it define our path forward. While the road ahead may seem daunting, it is in these times that we must lean on each other and remain steadfast in our fight for equality, justice, and dignity. We are a movement built on resilience, strength, and solidarity. Together, we will persist and continue to push for progress, never forgetting the power of our voices and our unity.

Please know that you are not alone. We stand with you, and we will fight alongside you. Our journey is not over, and together we will move forward. [The group held a drop-in Zoom meeting last evening and will do more outreach going forward.] If you need any behavioral health supports, please call one of the numbers on the graphic below.

On a positive note, we would like to congratulate our endorsed candidates on their victories, yesterday.  We trust that each of these people will serve as beacons of progress and protectors of our communities.

Becca Rausch, State Senate, Norfolk, Bristol & Middlesex

Natalie Higgins, House of Representatives, 4th Worcester

Jack Lewis, House of Representatives, 7th Middlesex

Amy Mah Sangiolo, House of Representatives, 11th Middlesex

Tamisha Civil, Governor’s Council, DIstrict 2

In solidarity,

Tanya V. Neslusan, Executive Director
