Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, have reportedly moved to England in response to Donald Trump’s victory.
The couple has moved to the Cotswolds in Southwest England, an area popular among celebrities, sources told TMZ, adding that while they had already purchased the home there before the election, the results spurred them “to get the hell out” of the country immediately. They are also putting their Montecito, California, home on the market.

When Taylor Swift endorsed Harris, calling herself a “childless cat lady” in reference to Vice President-elect JD Vance’s derogatory remarks about women, DeGeneres reposted the endorsement and wrote, “This childless cat lady couldn’t agree more.”
She also posted a 2018 interview she did with Harris on her show, as well as a clip from Michelle Obama’s speech in Kalamazoo, Michigan encouraging people to vote for Harris.
Sources say she and De Rossi are “very disillusioned” with the United States.
The comedian recently released what she said was her final performance, a stand-up special on Netflix – Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval – in which she addresses the allegations against her by former employees as creating a toxic work environment.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show began to unravel late in its 19-year run when allegations of rampant abuse began to surface. Two explosive stories about the toxic work environment published by Buzzfeed News led to an investigation by Warner Bros., producer of the program along with DeGeneres’ own Very Good Productions. Three top producers got the axe.
But the house-cleaning and a poorly received on-air apology from the host weren’t enough to salvage the multiple Emmy-winning show. DeGeneres signed off for the last time in May 2022 with her signature “Be kind” goodbye.
And despite her attempts to redeem herself in the Netflix special, former employees have said it is a case study in evasion and self-deception.
