Trump administration orders all federal DEI employees be placed on paid leave & eventually laid off
January 23 2025, 08:15

The Trump administration has reportedly ordered that all federal employees in positions associated with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) be placed on paid leave by 5 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday.

The directive comes after Donald Trump signed an executive order on “Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing.” The order called DEI programs “illegal and immoral” and said they “demonstrated immense public waste and shameful discrimination.”

“These programs divided Americans by race, wasted taxpayer dollars, and resulted in shameful discrimination,” the memo claimed before issuing a warning about defying the orders.

“We are aware of efforts by some in government to disguise these programs by using coded or imprecise language. If you are aware of a change in any contract description or personnel position description since November 5, 2024 to obscure the connection between the contract and DEIA or similar ideologies, please report all facts and circumstances… There will be no adverse consequences for timely reporting this information. However, failure to report this information within 10 days may result in adverse consequences.”

In a statement about the memo, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt praised Trump for following through on his campaign promise to end “the scourge of DEI from our federal government and returning America to a merit based society where people are hired based on their skills, not for the color of their skin.”

“This is another win for Americans of all races, religions, and creeds. Promises made, promises kept,” she declared.
