Lauren Boebert mocked for demanding changing name from “French fries” to “Freedom fries”
February 21 2025, 08:15

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) shared a bold idea on X: President Donald Trump should change the name of “French fries” to “freedom fries.”

“We rightfully have the Gulf of America,” she said, referring to Trump’s executive order changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico. “I’m also for changing French fries to Freedom fries!”

It’s the second time this week Boebert has been the butt of a fellow House Republican’s mockery.

She did not explain why she wanted that name change. Conservatives aren’t currently mad at France for any reason today, like they were in 2003 when Congressional Republicans renamed the menu item at the Capitol’s cafeterias in response to France’s opposition to the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

It’s not clear if Boebert is aware that that is where the name “freedom fries” comes from or what her position on the Iraq War is. Boebert would have been 16 at the time.

Boebert ended her post by tagging Trump and adding a salute emoji and an American flag.

We rightfully have the Gulf of America.

I’m also for changing French fries to Freedom fries!
