Elon Musk’s estranged trans daughter, Vivian Wilson, shared some insight on social media into why her father has been so hateful toward her trans identity.
“My assigned sex at birth was a commodity that was bought and paid for,” she wrote on Bluesky. “So when I was feminine as a child and then turned out to be transgender, I was going against the product that was sold.”

Wilson was conceived through IVF, and her posts imply that Musk used sex-selective IVF, a process by which embryos are tested for sex, and parents choose which one to implant.

The controversial practice is legal in the United States, though it is banned in many countries around the world (with most having exceptions for medical reasons), including New Zealand, Australia, China, India, and most of Europe.
A 2022 piece in Forbes said Musk – who recently welcomed his 14th child – has taken “an engineering approach to reproduction.” At least his first five children were conceived through IVF, and all were assigned male at birth. It has been posited that Musk may have used sex-selective IVF to make this happen, and Wilson’s post seems to confirm he has at least used it once.

Wilson has been estranged from Musk since 2022, when the billionaire failed to accept her transition. She has gained a substantial following on social media in recent months, often gaining media attention for criticizing the actions of her father.
She previously pointed out that Musk’s viral claims about her in an interview with right-wing media icon Jordan Peterson are entirely inaccurate.
“This is entirely fake. Like, literally none of this ever happened,” she said in response to claims that she was gay, loved musicals, and said “fabulous.”
“Ever. I don’t even know where he got this from. My best guess is that he went to the Milo Yiannopoulis school of gay stereotypes, just picked some at random and said ‘eh- good enough’ in a last-ditch attempt to garner sympathy points when he is so obviously in the wrong even in his own f**king story.”
Wilson also recently skewered the Christian Post for an op-ed that misgendered her, deadnamed her, and called her transition “tragic.”
“The Christian Post just published an article calling me a Trans-Identified Son who’s just a tragic little gay boy,” she wrote. “Love thy neighbour right.”
