Charli XCX has appeared to make a subtle dig at the Coachella lineup after her performance on the main stage.

It’s that time of year again. If the influencer posts on your timeline weren’t enough to go by, Coachella has well and truly returned. And after the Brat hitmaker tore the house down on Saturday (12 April) with her star-studded performance of everyone’s favourite dance album, Charli has appeared to clap back at festival organisers.

The music and arts festival in Indo, California was ever the stomping ground for A-listers, including Timothée Chalamet and girlfriend Kylie Jenner, as well as her sister Kendall Jenner. 

During Charli’s hour-long set, there were yet more celebrities on-stage, including musical guests Troye Sivan, Billie Eilish and Lorde. The British singer joined forces with Eilish for a live debut of their hit remix “Guess”, with Sivan performing the “Talk Talk” remix (and wearing a “Protect The Dolls” shirt, no less) and Lorde performing “Girl, So Confusing”.

Despite the singer being arguably the biggest thing in music since her infamous green album dropped in June 2024, Charli was yet to be considered a headline act on the Saturday. Instead, rock band Green Day were billed as the headline act of the night.

In what appeared to be a response to that fact, Charli wore a “Miss Should Be Headliner” sash at her private after party at the Guess Jeans compound. Oh Charli, the icon that you are.

At the end of her show, Charli confused fans with a montage of messages about where she’ll head next now that “Brat Summer” is “finally over”. 

“Idk? Maybe? Wait was it? No?? Yeah cuz duh it was already over like last year,” the messages read. “Wait. Was it? NO??? I don’t know who I am if it’s over???” F***,” the screen read.

“Wait. I remembered. I’m Charli. And honestly… I just want this moment to last forever.” Her set ended with her Brat album cover going up in flames.
