In New York City, Jasmine Kennedie, who famously came out as trans while competing on Season 14 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, faced a harrowing incident of public harassment on Sunday night. On Monday, she shared her story on Instagram, with video of her tormenter.

After a performance at the Playhouse in the West Village, Kennedie, who was still in full makeup, was on her way home to New Jersey when she says a man sat “very, very close” to her while she was waiting for her train at the World Trade Center.

Kennedy got up and away from the individual, but says the man, built and in his 30’s, started to follow her and began spewing hateful language, calling her a “fa***t” and telling her “This is Trump’s America” and “Trump’s your daddy, Trump is your f*ckin’ daddy.”

The man followed Kennedie onto her train, where she says she made a split-second decision to stand up for herself.

“I just matched his energy, essentially,” Kennedie told PRIDE in an interview Wednesday.

She recounted the moment on her Insta reel and posted it to other social media platforms.
