Marjorie Taylor Greene has found herself in hot water after tweeting that “evil is being defeated” just hours after Pope Francis died.
The Georgia Republican Rep., who is notorious for her gender-critical and conspiracy theory-packed rhetoric, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday (22 April). She wrote: “Today there were major shifts in global leaderships. Evil is being defeated by the hand of God.”
Her tweet comes after the Vatican announced on Monday (21 April) that Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church, died at the age of 88. Onlookers called her message “absolutely atrocious” and warned her about “pushing” Catholics “away from our winning coalition”.
“Marjorie, what kind of Christian dances on a man’s grave and calls it God’s will?”, another commented. “You read the Bible like it’s a QAnon blog post and still miss the part about humility.”
PinkNews has contacted a representative of Greene for further comment on the matter.
