Since 2020, Rowling, herself a survivor of domestic abuse and sexual assault, has seemingly made it her life’s mission to perpetuate the false narrative that allowing transgender women access to women’s spaces like public restrooms and shelters poses a major threat to cisgender women’s safety. She has also frequently cast those who disagree with her as misogynists.

“Stop this nonsense that if you don’t agree with @jk_rowling you hate women,” Boy George wrote in his April 26 post. He went on to claim that Rowling “hates men.”

“This is where this truth lies,” he continued. “She cannot differentiate between a ‘trans’ [sic] woman and a biological male. Which is weird with her imagination?”

Within hours, the terminally online author responded with her own X post.

“I’m married to a man, George. I do not hate men,” she wrote. “I simply live in reality where men – however they identify – commit 98% of sexual assaults, and 88% of victims are female. Trans-identified men are no less likely than other kinds of men to pose a risk to women or girls.”
