The production company behind the hit queer series, See-Saw Films, confirmed that main characters Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) and Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) will see their love story concluded via a feature film, rather than a fourth series.
Netflix also echoed the news, confirming on social media, “Heartstopper will return, bigger than ever. A Heartstopper movie, our final chapter based on Alice Oseman’s upcoming volume six, is coming.”
Speaking to Netflix’s Tudum, creator Oseman, who uses she/they pronouns, revealed the film “will wrap up Nick and Charlie’s journey”.
“After Season 3, the couple is inseparable. But, with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school, the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them. Doubts take hold, and their relationship faces its biggest challenge yet,” she said of the film.
