Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) is earning praise on social media for an innovative attack on Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-GA) quest to ban trans women from sports with a game she invented called “Trump or Trans?”
“I’m going to ask you a question, and I want you to tell me whether it is Trump or trans people that are responsible,” she told National Women’s Law Center CEO, Fatima Goss Graves, during a hearing on trans athletes held by Greene’s House Oversight Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency, of which Greene is chair. It’s not clear how banning trans people from participating in school sports relates to the subject of government efficiency, which is usually about grants and spending.

Crockett then proceeded to list major problems in the country today so Goss Graves could say whether trans people or Trump were responsible.

Spoiler alert: they were all Trump’s fault.
The list included “gutt[ing] medical research”; “kidnapping Americans and sending them to foreign countries, AKA deporting them”; “Driving us into a recession”; “increasing the cost of everything”; “waging an idiotic tariff war”; “harming farmers”; “ignoring the constitution”; “proposing to take away social security”; “cutting health care”; “firing government workers who keep our country safe”; “encouraging an environment of hate and divisiveness.”
After Goss Graves answered Trump to every question, Crockett went on to slam Republicans for purporting to care about government waste while supporting Trump’s endless golf outings.
“This committee could be engaged in actual oversight of fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement,” she said. “So let’s talk about waste, like Trump’s plan to spend almost 100 million dollars for his little birthday parade, or how he spent 25% of his first 100 days golfing, costing taxpayers tens of millions of dollars.”
She said the latest estimate puts his golf outings at over $30 million during his first 100 days and added that he “is on pace to spend more than a billion dollars of taxpayer dollars just on golfing.”
“Yet the Republicans have been silent,” she said. “So they must think spending taxpayer dollars on the president’s golfing trips is more important than providing health care to their constituents.”

Greene held the hearing—“Unfair Play: Keeping Men out of Women’s Sports”–on May 7 and opened by denigrating trans people, declaring that “female athletes should never be forced to compete against mentally ill biological men who parade around in women’s clothes.”
Crockett is known for being a fiercely outspoken defender of progressive values. In February, she made headlines for her blunt two-word response to what she would say directly to Elon Musk if she had the chance: “F**k off.”
She did not mince words when speaking to a reporter about the president’s recent (and many would say dystopian) address to Congress.
“What is happening!?” she continued. “Like, this is not America. This is a terrible nightmare. Somebody slap me and wake me the f**k up ’cause I’m ready to get on with it.”
In another interview, she called out Republicans for acting like trans people are the ones causing problems in the country.
“Lord have mercy, that is the biggest issue that we’ve had. Since when? Since when!?” she said. “Find the little trans child that is ruining your life. I mean, I’m just like, what are we doing? Like, what are we doing?”
