Las Vegas lights up iconic sign in rainbow colours to mark Pride month
June 11 2025, 08:15

The city of Las Vegas has lit up its iconic “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign in rainbow colours in order to celebrate Pride month.

The sign, which reads, “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada,” and is located south of the city centre and to the west of the Harry Reid International Airport, is one of the Clark County city’s most iconic landmarks.

It was lit up in rainbow colours 10 June, in order to mark Pride month in the city, in a ceremony attended by County Commissioner Justin Jones and representatives from the LGBTQ Center of Southern Nevada.

“We’re not just celebrating Pride month,” Jones told local news network News 3.

“We’re affirming that Clark County is built on the principle that everyone belongs. Our LGBT community doesn’t just contribute to our success, they are our success.

“They are our entrepreneurs, our artists, our healthcare workers, our teachers, our neighbours and our friends.”

The Las Vegas Pride Instagram account shared a video of the moment the lights were flipped on, writing, “The Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada sign is now Rainbow in honor of Pride Month.”

The cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race also recently visited the Las Vegas sign – though top five contestant Suzie Toot shared that the cast experienced a “hate crime” while there.

Pride month in the United States looks different this year, with the country back under the administration of Donald Trump as president.

Though several companies have continued as usual, releasing their annual Pride collections despite the DEI crackdown, many have pulled out of sponsorships or even failed to mark Pride month at all.

For example, four days after Trump’s inauguration, Target issued an announcement stating that it planned to eliminate hiring goals for minority employees, NYC Pride announced it had lost multiple major sponsors this year and the developer of RuneScape has been accused of ‘catering to American conservatism’ by rolling back Pride Month events.
