Donald Trump’s lesbian niece, Mary Trump – who has devoted her career to exposing the president’s lies, ignorance, and gross incompetence – recently explained the paltry motivations she believes are fueling her uncle to escalate U.S. tensions with Iran.
On an episode of Mary Trump Live, she walked viewers through Donald Trump’s decision to ignore his own intelligence advisors after declaring he doesn’t care that U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said in March that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) responded with characteristic class after Trump’s insults.
“I don’t care what she said,” the president told reporters. “I think they were very close to having it.” He has since been posting regularly on Truth Social about Iran, though it’s not clear what’s really going on.

After Israel launched attacks on Iran on June 13, Donald Trump wrote, “We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran.” He did not explain if the “we” in that post referred to the United States. Officials have since told the media that the president is seriously contemplating joining the war and is considering an air strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities.
“Donald is deliberately rejecting of U.S. intelligence gathering because it contradicts his preferred narrative,” Mary Trump wrote in an edited transcript of the episode. “This is the same pattern we saw when Donald sided with Vladimir Putin over his own intelligence agencies in 2018.”
She then warned that one of the biggest concerns here is that the more pushback Donald Trump gets, “the more likely he is to double down on his threats.”
“As often is the case, he may escalate his threats to wage war to make himself feel better and to make sure that everybody else looks wrong, even if they’re not.”
The president’s threats to involve the United States in a war with Iran have indeed begun to fracture the MAGA crowd, with many usually loyal Republicans – including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and professional troll Tucker Carlson – speaking out against him.
“I don’t know if anybody remembers this, but in 2016, 2020, and 2024 Donald campaigned on the promise to stop endless wars and to keep the United States out of foreign conflicts,” Mary Trump said. “Now he’s threatening airstrikes and ignoring intelligence so that he can rationalize those airstrikes.”
She said this should have been obvious to anyone who voted for him, since most of his promises “turn out to be utter lies.”
“He revels in being cruel,” she said to explain why he is clearly not motivated to keep the peace. “He’s been known to obsess over nuclear weaponry for decades now. He’s fantasized about nuclear war. He’s a nihilist. We know that he is so thin-skinned and depraved that he would choose armed conflict over being humiliated.”
She also highlighted his ignorance and his true beliefs that he knows what he is talking about.
“Donald never feels as if he has to learn anything because he believes he knows everything already. He has no intellectual curiosity whatsoever. If you combine that with his ignorance, his lack of intelligence, and his arrogance, that is a very dangerous combination. Why doesn’t he believed the reports of his own intelligence agencies? Well, the intelligence contradicts his beliefs, and he thinks he knows better.”
She boiled it down to the fact that this entire conflict is really “about his fragile ego.”
“There is nobody who can stop his reckless escalation,” she warned. “There is nobody left who would even dare try. This will not end well.”
