A queer children’s education company has dismissed a post by a gender-critical campaigner that stated LGBTQ+ organisations aimed at children should be “defunded”
A post criticising “Pride organisations aimed at kids,” shared on X by gender-critical campaigner Venice Allan — who has over 27,000 followers on the platform — received more than 100,000 views and thousands of interactions.
In the post, the photo shows a banner for Pop’n’Olly, a children’s education company, and two people holding a sign that reads: “I support LGBT+ education.”
Venice captioned the image: “Every Pride org aimed at kids needs to be defunded and investigated, there is no appropriate age to teach children about men’s sexual rights and the transgender body mutilation cult.”

In response, a spokesperson for Pop’n’Olly told PinkNews: “We are incredibly proud of the work we do at Pop’n’Olly which supports schools, teachers, parents and carers in teaching about diversity and inclusion.
“Teaching children about diversity has been shown time and time again to improve mental health for all children, both LGBT+ and not, as well as reduce bullying and discrimination. Our work is supported by many thousands of teachers, educators, parents and carers, designed and delivered by education experts, in line with all current legislation and informed by research.”
According to Debating Matters, Allan was part of the women’s collective that in 2020 started regular meet ups at Speakers’ Corner in London, which went on to become the gender-critical group Let Women Speak. In April last year, she posted a tweet that read: “Why were there no ‘trans kids’ in the nineties?”
Academics have disputed the claim that trans identity is a “new phenomenon,” as some right-wing commentators suggest. Jules Gill-Peterson, a professor of gender, sexuality, and women’s studies at the University of Pittsburgh, previously told The Guardian that her research uncovered evidence of children and young people accessing transition-related medication as far back as the 1930s.
CEO and founder of Pop’n’Olly, Olly Pike, previously told PinkNews about his decision to donate hundreds of books to Tory constituencies after top Conservatives pedalled anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment at the party conference.
