US president Donald Trump has named Hooters-loving, “alpha male” MAGA supporter Nick Adams as his ambassador to Malaysia, despite the fact his X account is so right-wing it almost seems like a parody.

Nick Adams, whose legal name is Nicholas Adamopoulos, has indeed been named US ambassador to Malaysia. The right-wing influencer immigrated from Australia to the US in 2012. He became a naturalised citizen in 2021.

On Thursday (10 July), Adams took to X to post a “thank you to the greatest president ever” for choosing him. A video accompanying the post shows Adams saying that he has been “armed with the pen of diplomacy.” 

Comments under the post were united in believing Adams was a fake account set up to poke fun at MAGA supporters. One person commented, “I thought this guy was parody the whole time?” Another wrote, poking fun at his previous tweet, “I’m so incredibly proud to have an Alpha Male as my ambassador to Malaysia.”

Even just a brief look at Adams’ X account reveals some bizarre truths – including an obsession with the restaurant chain Hooters, which primarily recruits young women as servers and has them dress in revealing outfits while attending tables. The company’s name is a slang term for women’s breasts.

In a tweet posted in September last year, Adams shared that his identity as an “alpha male” means he prefers the company of other men, dines at “Hooters 4–6 times per week”, watches every Trump rally “start to finish,” and refuses to eat “female M&Ms.” 

Adding to his extensive list of attributes, he noted that he’s “highly educated,” fluent in “3+ languages”– though he doesn’t specify which – “devilishly handsome,” “extremely charismatic,” and has “no intention of apologising. For any of it”.

Responses to the tweet were, of course, as hilarious as the tweet itself. One person commented, “you forgot you’re unapologetically humble,” to which Adams responded, “Jim, good catch!!! Thank you. You are correct!”

Social media users have also reacted to Adams’ election with memes and jokes, including one person who captioned another of his tweets – again about enjoying Hooters, eating rare steak, and having the “physique of a Greek God”– with, “Trump just put this guy in the government.”

A different tweet saw someone call out Adams as a “pathetic dude” after a former Hooters girl criticised people who dine there as betas.
