Who is breaking records: Bowen Yang is now the most-nominated Asian male performer ever. Ayo Edebiri is the first Black woman ever nominated in several categories. RuPaul Charles is now the most-nominated reality TV host of all time.
Why it matters: Even in the face of an anti-LGBTQ+ backlash, queer people are getting recognized for their cultural contributions. Queer people of color, who have often been ignored in the media, are getting honored as well.

Why it matters: The president is trying to revoke the citizenship of an American because she spoke out against him, which is an authoritarian move that previous presidents haven’t even been willing to suggest publicly.

What she vetoed: An anti-trans bathroom bill, a book banning bill, and a ban on teachers giving students “get to know you” questionnaires without parental permission.
Why it matters: Gov. Kelly Ayotte showed that even Republican governors can push back against the current anti-trans panic.

Key quote: “Political banners have no place on public roads,” Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said.
Why it matters: Rainbow crosswalks and other street art have become a symbol for acceptance from municipal governments. The right is pushing back because they don’t want that acceptance in public spaces.
