French first lady Brigitte Macron and her husband, President Emmanuel Macron, are suing MAGA pundit Candace Owens for defamation over her year-long quest to “prove” Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman.

The lawsuit reportedly claims that Owens’s obsession with their family has “caused tremendous damage to the Macrons,” causing “global humiliation” and “turning their lives into fodder for profit-driven lies.”

“Owens has dissected their appearance, their marriage, their friends, their family, and their personal history — twisting it all into a grotesque narrative designed to inflame and degrade,” the lawsuit states, according to The Independent.

“The result is relentless bullying on a worldwide scale,” the suit adds. “Every time the Macrons leave their home, they do so knowing that countless people have heard, and many believe, these vile fabrications. It is invasive, dehumanizing, and deeply unjust.”

The Macrons said Owens’s content is built on “provocation, not truth” and “is not intended to inform but to inflame and attract attention through sensationalism and conspiracy theories.”

The “relentless and unjustified smear campaign” to which the lawsuit refers began in June 2024, when Owens glommed onto wild speculation from two women who were found liable for defamation after claiming Brigitte Macron was actually her own real-life brother, Jean-Michel Trogneux, transitioned into a woman. (Trogneux was present at the defamation trial.)

Owen went on to create an eight-part podcast series in which she “investigated” Brigitte Macron’s gender identity.

“Owens published the series and related X posts with reckless disregard for the truth,” the lawsuit states. “Owens was repeatedly presented with credible, verifiable evidence disproving her claims — including documentation, public records, and direct outreach from the Macrons. Instead of correcting the record, she doubled down… Owens, fully aware of the truth, has not only declined to retract her statements but has actively expanded on them.”

In August 2024, Owens said she’d stake her “professional reputation” on the claim that Brigitte Macron is, a “perverted” transgender woman who was a man when she met and raped the French president when he was 14.

In reality, Macron and Brigitte first met when he was 15 and she was a 40-year-old instructor at his high school. Years later, Brigitte divorced her husband, the father of her three children, and married the future president.

The rest of Owens’ fantasy began with a YouTube video released in France in late 2021, in the thick of Macron’s reelection campaign. In the video, a woman claimed to have spent three years researching Brigitte Macron’s past to determine she was actually her brother.

The commentator – too toxic even for far-right “news” site The Daily Wire, which fired her over her overt antisemitism last year – also once used her lies about the Macrons to help push a wild theory that a cabal of Satanists is masquerading as Jews and conspiring to promote incest and child sexual abuse in an effort create a generation of psychopathic world leaders.

Owens has also claimed that trauma and social contagion are responsible for homosexuality, She once accused So You Think You Can Dance judge JoJo Siwa of pretending to be gay for clicks. She also said she’d beat her own grandchild if they came out as trans and falsely associated trans people with mass shootings in Memphis and Texas.
