Resurfaced Dolly Parton clip about LGBTQ+ acceptance goes viral amid concern for star’s health
October 04 2025, 08:15

A heartwarming Dolly Parton clip about LGBTQ+ acceptance has gone viral amid concerns for her health.

The 79-year-old, whose husband Carl Dean died aged 82 in March, will not attend the 16th Governor Awards in Hollywood, California, on 16 November due to “health challenges,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Dolly Parton’s health issues have also forced her to postpone six concerts that were due to take place in Las Vegas later this year.

A resurfaced clip of the “9 to 5” singer is going viral on TikTok amid concerns about her health.

‘That’s God’s job’

In the clip, taken from an old interview she did with talk show host Larry King, Dolly says: “If you’re gay, you’re gay. If you’re straight, you’re straight. We are who we are. I don’t believe that we should criticise and judge other people. I think we should be accepting and loving. We are all God’s children. I keep saying, ‘Well, if you’re the fine Christian you think you are, why are you judging people?’ That’s God’s job. We’re not God.

“We’re not judges. We’re supposed to love one another, we’re not supposed to judge, and we’re not supposed to take vengeance on other people. That’s God’s job.”

She continued: “I’ve got too much to do on my own [without] trying to do God’s work, and you should be allowed to be how you are and who you are.”
