The lesbian daughter of the Cameroonian president is begging folks in the country not to vote for her father, who has long presided over a government that is extremely hostile to LGBTQ+ people.
Brenda Biya – who is also known as the rapper King Nasty – posted a TikTok video in which she slammed her father, President Paul Biya, for being a person who “has made a whole nation suffer for years.”

The nation has no anti-discrimination protections, and homosexuality is punishable by up to five years in jail. It is also illegal to change one’s gender on legal documents.
In March, LGBTQ Nation contributor Daniel Anthony detailed what he called the “severe crackdown on LGBTQ+ rights” taking place in the African nation.
Anthony wrote that Cameroonian authorities have “ramped up arrests, harassment, and violence against individuals suspected of being LGBTQ+” and that queer Cameroonians “have been forced into hiding, often leaving their jobs, schools, and homes to avoid being discovered.”
In her video, Brenda Biya, who came out on Instagram in 2024, claimed her family has been hostile to her, with one uncle telling her he hopes she dies of a drug overdose. She said she has completely cut herself off from her parents.
“I will not vote for Paul Biya,” she said, “and if I have ever done harm or been a bad person, towards Cameroonians or towards anyone, I am sorry. Do not vote for Paul Biya, not because of me, but because he has made too many people suffer. I hope we will have another president.”
