Throughout the entire month of October, a groundbreaking transgender organization is offering free programming for trans youth seeking, as its website describes, “connection, education, and joy.”

Stand With Trans – a family support organization run by the parents of trans youth – is currently hosting its 6th annual Trans Empowerment Month, during which trans folks and their families across the country can attend virtual sessions on empowerment, self-expression, family relationships, and the like. There are also sessions showcasing art, storytelling, and performance.

The organization explains that this year’s theme, Love Transcends, “reminds us that love can transcend boundaries, challenges, and differences, bringing us together in unity and hope.”

During an appearance on CBS News Detroit, Stand With Trans founder Roz Keith explained that “Especially right now, where there is a lot of misinformation, negative rhetoric and propaganda, it’s even more important to elevate the community… [and] create more allies.”

Indeed, trans kids have never before been under the national microscope the way they are today. As conservative leaders across the country devote endless time and resources to tearing trans kids down, it is more critical than ever for workshops like this one to not only help them cope but also to find confidence in the face of it all.

The group describes the event as “a celebration of authenticity, resilience, and the boundless love that unites us all.”

Trans Empowerment Month programs are free for anyone under 25. It costs about $50 to participate for those 25 and older.

Stand With Trans touts four main benefits of attending: participants will learn to elevate their advocacy, expand their networks, expand their knowledge, and gain access to world-class resources.

In addition to its other programming, Stand With Trans offers an ally parent lifeline that parents can call to speak with other parents who have had similar experiences.
