Christian Nationalist anti-LGBTQ+ hate pastor Joel Webbon fomented violence against left-wingers in a recent broadcast by saying, “If you fire into a crowd of liberals, you’ve got about a 100% chance of hitting exclusively child predators,” Right Wing Watch noted.

Webbon made his comment while claiming that the three men shot by right-wing darling Kyle Rittenhouse — two of whom died — were all child predators. Only one of them had a prior child sex offender conviction.

Webbon’s rhetoric echoes that of numerous right-wing conservatives and Republicans who have claimed that LGBTQ+ people and their allies are actually “groomers” seeking to win over children’s trust in order to sexually abuse them. Such rhetoric increases the likelihood that someone may attack these groups under the guise of “protecting children.”

Webbon and other right-wingers never discuss the huge numbers of child sexual assaults committed by Christian leaders and churches nor do they ever partner with organizations actually devoted to ending child sex trafficking and abuse.

In June 2024, Webbon went off on “degenerate” gays, saying that death, as a “maximum penalty,” would act as a deterrent to homosexuality. He also heartily agreed with a guest that 17% of gay men regularly eat feces.

Webbon has also previously said that Black civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. is in Hell and that racist, slave-owning Confederate leaders are in Heaven.
