A Republican mother and military spouse eviscerated House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) live on C-SPAN as the staunch right-wing lawmaker took calls about the federal government shutdown.

The mother explained that she has two children who are “medically fragile” and a military husband with PTSD. She chastised Johnson for refusing to call a vote for a standalone bill that would guarantee the military gets paid during the shutdown.

The mom said their family lives paycheck-to-paycheck and will not be able to buy the medication her kids need if the next one doesn’t come through.

“As a Republican I am disappointed in my party and in you because you do have the power to call the House back,” she said. “You refused to do that. I am begging you to pass this legislation. My kids could die. We don’t have the credit because of the medical bills that I have to pay it regularly. You could stop this and you could be the one that could say the military is getting paid. I think it is awful for someone who make six figures a year to do this to a military family.”

Johnson, unsurprisingly, still found a way to blame Democrats for her challenges.
