Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) has been speaking out vehemently against the Trump administration’s current assault on the city of Chicago, in particular the vicious and racist behavior by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, which has made many Hispanic people terrified to leave their homes.
Pritzker has made it clear since Donald Trump’s first term that he is not afraid of the former reality TV star. He has stood strong for his progressive values and expressed determination to protect marginalized communities in the state.

When asked on ABC about Trump’s recent Truth Social Post calling for him and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) to be jailed for “failing to protect” the ICE officers who have been terrorizing the city, Pritzker emphasized Trump’s inability to scare him.
“Am I afraid? I am not afraid… As I’ve said before, come and get me.”
In his dystopian novel 1984, George Orwell warned about many things we're seeing today. Authoritarians try to deny the very existence of objective truth, brazenly contradicting obvious facts. Donald Trump and his minions present fantasy as truth, and too many fools believe them.

His words echo what he said about the threat during an interview on MSNBC, during which he called Trump “unhinged,” “insecure,” and a “wannabe dictator.”
“And there’s one thing I really want to say to Donald Trump,” Pritzker said. “If you come for my people, you come through me. So, come and get me.”
