The president is being condemned for his dismissive treatment of a female journalist who asked him a question about foreign policy at a White House event this week.

The journalist, whose identity isn’t clear, asked Trump a question about China and Latin America during Argentine President Javier Milei’s visit yesterday.

“As China deepens its presence in Latin America, what role do you see for the U.S.?” she asked. Trump immediately turned to JD Vance and gestured at her.

“I just like to watch her talk,” he said, laughing.

“Good job,” he told her. “Thank you, darling.”

He didn’t answer her question, and he ended the event.

Out gay Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent – seated on Vance’s other side – was laughing along with Trump and Vance, but Secretary of State Marco Rubio, seated on Trump’s left, did not laugh. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth could also be seen in the video, and he appeared to be distracted.

While many of Trump’s supporters claimed that he was joking and that the interaction showed that he’s “confident,” many people condemned his sexism on social media.
