Elon Musk is the CEO of several companies, including SpaceX, X, xAI, and Tesla, but apparently, he also has a lot of time to spend on social media attacking his perceived enemies. And his latest target is Transportation Secretary and acting NASA Administrator Sean Duffy, who has reopened a government contract to lead a return-to-the-moon competition, a contract SpaceX once secured.

On CNBC, Duffy said SpaceX is behind in its work on Project Artemis, which has the long-term goal of establishing a permanent base on the Moon. “We’re not going to wait for one company,” Duffy said, explaining he will see if other companies can move faster.

“Competition and innovation are the keys to our dominance in space so NASA is opening up HLS [Human Landing System] production to Blue Origin and other great American companies,” he wrote on X, sharing the CNBC clip.

Musk, who is reportedly over the age of 12, decided to respond by posting a meme of a reporter saying, “Why are you gay?”

The meme is from a 2012 Ugandan television interview by NBS Television host Simon Kaggwa Njala of Uganda, who was speaking to LGBTQ+ advocate Pepe Julian Onziema. That interview – which took place as the East African country debated a bill to put gay people to death – was hostile as Njala tried to get Onziema to identify as gay even though he is a heterosexual trans man. Anti-LGBTQ+ activist Martin Ssempa later appeared in the broadcast and shouted at Onziema and misgendered him.

But some people in the West – and, apparently, one African-born white CEO of an American company – found Njala’s opening line, demanding Onziema explain why he’s gay (even though he’s not), to be funny, and it became a meme in some online circles.

Musk didn’t stop with that meme and continued to insult Duffy. He called Duffy “Sean Dummy” and said he is trying to end NASA, referring to reports that Duffy is quietly lobbying to have NASA become a part of the Department of Transportation (DOT). It is currently an independent federal agency.

Musk posted a reality TV clip calling him an “a*s rocket” and shared messages calling for the president to remove him as administrator of NASA. He said Duffy has a “2 digit IQ” and needs “moar brainz!” according to Politico.

Duffy, who replaced out Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg at DOT and Janet Petro at NASA, has not responded to Musk’s string of insults.
