Anti-trans Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) rocked the Capitol over the weekend by announcing her resignation from Congress, effective January 5. But Republican representatives have told reporters that hers might just be the first of many.

“More explosive early resignations are coming,” an anonymous senior House Republican told Punchbowl News. “It’s a tinder box. Morale has never been lower. Mike Johnson will be stripped of his gavel and they will lose the majority before this term is out.”

Greene’s resignation came after the one-time Donald Trump loyalist had a string of continued disagreements with the president, largely over government spending and the release of the Epstein Files. After Trump started name-calling and promised to endorse a primary challenger against her, Greene stepped away, leaving a manifesto of an explanation.
