This year, LGBTQ Senior Housing is proudly displaying two panels of The AIDS Memorial Quilt at The Pryde Community Center to honor and uplift those lost to HIV/AIDS along with a week of special programming, December 1–5.
Events, free and open to the public, range from a candlelight vigil to a research panel to a film screening:
World AIDS Day Vigil
Monday, December 1, 4–5 p.m. A candlelight vigil will be followed by a reception and viewing of The AIDS Memorial Quilt. The candlelight vigil will take place outside at the flag pole at 55 Harvard Ave, Hyde Park. The vigil will be followed by a reception at The Pryde Community Center and the unveiling of the Quilt panels.
Drop-In AIDS Memorial Quilt Viewing
Tuesday, December , 10 a.m.–12:40 p.m. Drop by to view the Quilt. It celebrates the lives of people who have died of AIDS-related causes. It is the world’s largest ongoing community folk art project.
Research for All: Building Trust, Breaking Stigma
Wednesday, December 3, 6–8:30 p.m. The Boston HIV Research Community Advisory Board is hosting an event meant to center a discussion on HIV, stigma, and the importance of continued research. Hear directly from researchers and participants about their experiences and the impact of the studies being done for HIV prevention and treatment in Boston.
Quilt Viewing and Free Screening of Longtime Companion
Thursday, December 4, 3 p.m.-7 p.m.
Join us for a free screening of the 1989 movie Longtime Companion about the early years of the AIDS crisis. The movie will start at 5 p.m. The Pryde Community Center will open at 3 p.m. for viewing The Quilt.
