Sabrina Carpenter slams ‘disgusting’ White House ICE video that used her music

Sabrine Carpenter has slammed the White House after it shared a vile Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deportation video set to the sound of her hit track “Juno”.

The White House’s official TikTok is stirring controversy again. After using Wicked’s “Defying Gravity” to celebrate the detention of people by ICE, it has now used Sabrina Carpenter’s “Juno”, which is about sex, in a bid to further promote ICE’s work.

Captioned, “Have you ever tried this one? Bye-bye”, the 14-second clip shows people being pursued by ICE officers and handcuffed, while the lyric, “have you ever tried this one? repeats three times.

Comments under the post hit out at the Trump administration for its deafening ignorance prior to Carpenter sharing her own response.

“Oh, hell no,” reads a top comment with more than 1,000 likes.

“Man, can’t wait for Sabrina Carpenter to complain about this,” someone else commented, while another comment agreed, “I feel Sabrina would disapprove the use of this.”

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday (2 December), Carpenter branded the clip “evil” and called the Trump administration’s immigration policy “inhumane.”

Replying directly to the White House, the singer wrote: “this video is evil and disgusting. Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda.”

Someone else wrote, “We are officially a Godless country.”

Carpenter has been a visible and vocal ally of the LGBTQ+ community. She’s used her tours to raise money for LGBTQ+ causes, including the Transgender Law Centre. During her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in September this year, the “Espresso” hitmaker was surrounded by queer folk and stars of RuPaul’s Drag Race, plus a range of banners carrying slogans including “Protect Trans Rights”.

Trump began his second term by vowing to crack down on illegal immigration, which included booting ICE’s deportation numbers through an increase in raids and arrests nationwide.

Many have alleged they have been wrongfully arrested, detained and deported by ICE despite being citizens, having correct visas or valid asylum claims.

This includes the case of gay makeup artist Andry José Hernández Romero, who entered the US legally in 2024 to seek asylum after fleeing anti-LGBTQ+ violence in his home country of Venezuela, but was deported by ICE to a supermax CECOT prison in El Salvador, known for its poor conditions and human rights abuses, because the agency incorrectly believed he had links to gangs.
