‘Heterosexual Awesomeness’ bar goes even lower with free beers for ICE informants
December 03 2025, 08:15

A pro-Trump, anti-woke bar in Idaho notable for its “Heterosexual Awesomeness” celebrations is now offering free beer to patrons who help ICE deport undocumented migrants.

ICE, which stands for US Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, is a federal agency that enforces immigration laws in the United States, including arresting and deporting people that the agency believes are in the country illegally. It was formed in 2002 in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.

Since Donald Trump returned to office for his second term in January, his administration has made cracking down on illegal immigration a major tenet of his presidency and the agency has been tasked with raising deportation numbers through an increase in raids and arrests across the country.

The Old State Saloon in Eagle, Idaho – located around 10 miles northwest of downtown Boise – announced the grotesque offer to support ICE on Saturday (30 November) in a post on Elon Musk’s platform X.

“ALERT: Anyone who helps ICE identify and ultimately deport an illegal from Idaho gets FREE BEER FOR ONE MONTH at Old State Saloon!” the post reads.

It was subsequently shared by the Libs of TikTok, the far-right account run by Chaya Raichik – who has been labelled an “anti-LGBTQ+ extremist” by the Southern Poverty Law Center – and which described the offer as “epic”.

In a subsequent post, the bar’s official account outlined details of how people can claim the offer, which included sending an email “with any evidence, photos, videos, summary of events, dates, and times”.

It was also suggested that if people support the deportation of multiple individuals then they may be entitled to claim months worth of free beer.

In recent months, many people have alleged they were wrongfully arrested, detained and deported by ICE despite having citizenships, the correct visas to be in the US or valid asylum claims.

One such case was that of gay makeup artist Andry José Hernández Romero, who entered the US legally in 2024 to seek asylum after fleeing anti-LGBTQ+ violence in his home country of Venezuela. Despite this, he was deported by ICE to the supermax CECOT prison in El Salvador – known for its poor conditions and vile human rights abuses – because ICE incorrectly believed he had links to gangs due to his tattoos.

Speaking to Newsweek about the offer, Ryan Spoon, vice chair of the Ada County Republican Central Committee in Idaho, said he had claimed the reward.

“Yes, I did! I had a free Moon Dog Amber Ale at the Old State Saloon… and a great chat with the owner, Mark Fitzpatrick, whom I also consider a friend,” Spoon told the outlet.

This is not the first time the right-wing bar, which has a ‘Make America Great Again Signature Cocktail Menu’ including a ‘MAGA-rita’, has courted controversy for its promotions.

Last year, the bar announced it would be giving straight, cisgender men free beers every Monday of June in a “heterosexual Awesomeness Month” promotion to coincide with Pride Month.

“Each Monday will be Hetero Male Monday and any heterosexual male dressed like a heterosexual male will receive a free draft beer,” a post about the offer at the time read.

While the offer was not available to heterosexual women, there was also a “Heterosexual Couples Day” offer available Wednesday of June where each “heterosexual couple” would receive a 15 per cent discount.

The bar’s owner, Mark Fitzpatrick, has – oddly – claimed he loves “all types of people, including the LGBTQ+ crowd”, saying: “I sincerely wish they all knew Jesus as their saviour.”

This year, following on from that event, Fitzpatrick announced that June 2025 would see the bar celebrate ‘Hetero Awesome Fest’ – a straight Pride event, the aim of which was to “celebrate the traditional family unit and address concerns about cultural trends influenced by liberal progressivism”.

“Our event is not about targeting any group but about raising awareness of practices we find troubling, such as the encouragement of ‘gender transitions’ among children or their exposure to inappropriate content,” he told NBC News at the time.

“We believe the traditional family is vital to society and deserves recognition and protection.”

During the event, however, pro-LGBTQ+ singer Daniel Hamrick infiltrated it and began to sing a song about a trans man before being escorted from the stage.

Fitzpatrick told KTVB that the song’s lyrics “go against our values”, and that “the Pride community” are “liars and deceivers [who] victimise children”.
