Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has been single again since her messy divorce two years ago, but now she’s mad at one of her Democratic colleagues – Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) – for still being single at the age of 35.

“This is a woman, she’s never been married, she has no children, she’s never had a job other than working in a bar,” Greene said on the far-right Eric Bolling Show. There is no context for the comment other than Bolling mentioning Ocasio-Cortez as someone who would have an opinion on the 2028 election, but apparently Greene – who is one of the most prominent voices for the right in Congress – was ready to go on a diatribe about Ocasio-Cortez, one of the most prominent voices for the left in Congress.

“She’s never run a business. This is a woman that has really no life experience and has no life wisdom because she’s never done any of those things,” Greene continued. “This is why no one will take her serious [sic] as a presidential candidate because we don’t want someone that’s propped up by the Democrat progressive establishment and who’s basically an actress herself making the most important decisions in America on behalf of Americans, who most of them have had jobs, have jobs, ran companies, have children, and have been married.”

Greene’s facts, though, were wrong. Ocasio-Cortez worked for the National Hispanic Institute and for Bernie Sanders’ 2016 campaign before running for Congress in 2018. Also, being a congresswoman is a job.

Moreover, only about 8% of Americans own a business, according to Brookings. Greene became part of that 8% when her parents sold her and her ex-husband their contracting business.

Ocasio-Cortez has been engaged to her fiance since 2022, the same year that Greene’s divorce was finalized. Greene’s divorce was announced amidst rampant rumors that she had engaged in affairs with two different men she met through her love of CrossFit, including one who has posted adult content of himself to OnlyFans. Greene is now dating rightwing radio host Brian Glenn.
