Don Jr. claimed his dad willingly left office the first time. The internet set him straight.

During an appearance on Fox News, Donald Trump Jr. railed against the No Kings rallies that took place nationwide over the weekend and drew millions of people to the streets to protest the Trump administration.

While President Donald Trump is not a literal king, the name of the protest is about the fact that he is acting like one and abusing his power in what is a clear quest to ultimately transform the country into an autocracy where the president isn’t subject to the rule of law.

Donald Trump tried to call Pete Buttigieg dumb. It backfired immediately.

But Republicans have continued to spout the idea that Trump can’t possibly act like a king because he was voted into office – and also because he doesn’t have absolute power. But he is certainly vying for it. In fact, the White House posted an image of him as a king in February, an image that inspired the name of the rally.

But Trump Jr. claimed on Fox that if his dad were really a king, “He probably would have never left office the first time.” The comment conveniently ignores Trump’s attempt to stay in office by falsely claiming the 2020 election was stolen from him and inciting an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

Many on social media were quick to point this out while also mocking Trump Jr. for not understanding what the protestors meant by “king.”

Yeah, he probably would’ve incited an insurrection or something. Sicced his goons on the Capitol. Tried to stop the election certification. That would’ve been bad. https://t.co/9woeMaO9lN

I do not think he understands that the word "king" is a stand in word for extreme corruption and violence; arbitrary malice destruction caprice contempt incompetence and so on.
